The Magical Dentist Who Made the Pain Go Away

posted on 19 May 2012 in Health and Beauty

The last time I went to the dentist, it was when I had some dental crowns in Holborn done - over 10 years ago! However, since my wisdom teeth started coming through they've been nothing but trouble. They hurt while growing, they hurt while popping through, they hurt when the gums around them got inflammated. I brushed and flossed and did everything I possibly could but they wouldn't stop hurting. I went to the dentist many times not being able to even open my mouth cause it hurt so bad and all they did was prescribe antibiotics and wait for the problem to happen again. I asked them to pull my wisdom teeth out but apparently mine were too close to a nerve and pulling them out might result in face paralysis, which I didn't really want to risk. When this happened for the tenth time I was sick of it and went to another dentist who actually wanted to fix the problem. She numbed me up and cut off the inflammated parts, gave me pain killers and stronger antibiotics. It hurt more than anything I've ever felt but when I woke up a few days later and the pain was gone it was so worth it. Of course I still floss and brush, everyone should always do that, but I don't really have to worry about big inflammations anymore and that feels great.

Thrice's Major/Minor: a Culmination of Their Career

posted on 16 May 2012 in Arts and Entertainment

Thrice has been my favorite band since I was twelve years old. Thirteen years later - and now working for a recording studio builders - I still have the same exciting feeling in my stomach when I went to pick up their latest and last album titled Major/Minor. This album is a pure rock album with elements of Thrice's last six albums all bundled into a beautiful eleven song masterpiece. The thing I always liked about Thrice is that they rarely ever use studio magic to make their music sound good. This is very appparent in Major/Minor, everything that you hear on the album is how it sounds when you hear it live. The lyrics reflect the good and bad in life, love, religion, and family, all of which I can relate to. Major/Minor is an album everybody should listen to regardless of whether you are a huge fan of Thrice like me, or a first time listener. Major/Minor is a masterpiece and it should not be missed by anyone.

Choose wisely on the method to use to search for something

It is never easy to look for something manually and this is why technology was created to help. Looking for something manually takes a lot of time and energy as you have to go through everything that is ht area you are searching. To search books by isbn cannot be done manually as it will be tiresome. It has to be done using a special program or machine that can look through the whole database and find the books being searched for. These special machines and programs save a lot of the time and energy that would have been used if they would have looked up for manually. Manual searches are only conducted on things that don't require a lot of time or energy. These are few things that one can look through and spot what they are looking for. It is up to the one searching to decide what method to use to search what they want. If the matters are a lot, they will use programs but if they are little, they will use the manual means to get what they want.

Storage Containers Get My Love and Approval

posted on 15 May 2012 in Business and Finance

Logos can be great to look at, or they can be an eyesore. My friend works in for a logo design outfit in Nottingham and he tells me a logo that looks simple could take weeks to develop - often you don't see the hundreds of other ideas that don't make it. It takes a special company to be able to create a logo I enjoy looking at, and Sterilite has succeeded in this. Sterilite has a cool font and has a simple oval around it. They make so many things in my house, but mostly storage containers of all sorts. When I see the Sterilite logo I get excited because I know that I am going to be dealing with quality work. I have a filing cabinet, containers, and even my cats enjoy Sterilite- their litter box is made from them. They hold up a long time without having to be replaced. The logo is associated with quality and family, because without the containers I would not be able to organize my families things like I want to. The logo is simple, not complex and this makes it pleasing to look at.

A Favorite Gift That is Memorable and Warms the Heart

posted on 15 May 2012 in Business and Finance

One of my most memorable gift giving experiences for friends and family is the Christmas I gave rum Bundt cakes to everyone. It was an unusual undertaking to bake and to do the research to make sure the cakes would be wanted by all. Actually, I'm one for making gifts rather than buying them. The previous Christmas I made bespoke jewellery for my female gift recipients using my jewellery making supplies. Sometimes I buy custom-made gifts too, like the branded usb flash drives I bought my brother for his company. However, when it came to the cake, I called my relatives and close friends to make sure they liked the idea of getting a rum cake before starting the project. It was easy to investigate without giving up the surprise and I felt good about doing something for the Holiday that warms the heart and stomach. I bought white cake boxes from the local baker and wide strips of red and green ribbon from the fabric store. Then my daughter and I baked the cakes and seasoned them with rum glaze and pecans. They smelled wonderful and looked very festive. The bows on the boxes with a holly leaf in the center were beautiful and season appropriate. We got lots of complimentary calls and loved the spirit of doing as well as giving that year.

How To Maximize Your Successes With Selling Online

posted on 12 May 2012 in Internet Related

At first, selling online can seem complicated and confusing - particularly if you start out with your own ecommerce website and trying to do it yourself. Sometimes it's better to put yourselves in the hands of a web development company to make it easier for you. I could find dozens of web design companies in the Loughborough area for myself to choose from, so there's no lack of choice. However, when it comes to selling online, eBay is almost everyone's first experience. And eBay is a great place to learn the basics of uploading photos, writing interesting descriptions and researching prices. The competition is great with hundreds of items just like yours so you will have to find some way to make your listing stand out. Books are fun to sell there as it is only 5 cents to list a book for thirty days. Listings starting at 99c or less. Soon you may want to progress to other sites like Amazon, Bonanzle, Ioffer, etsy and overstock.com. There is profit to be made so don't get discouraged. Don't be afraid to use on site help pages. At ebay there are even seminars that are free to attend online that will help you make your business a success.

Polished and Treated French Reclamation Items and Cast Iron Beds

posted on 11 May 2012 in Home and Garden

Original and antique French items can be upcycled and remodelled to create interesting and creative interior or exterior features. This can include anything from cast iron beds to kitchen furniture, from old rural farm machinery to cider barrels and presses, and from ornate garden statues to large granite troughs which look fabulous when planted with colourful summer flowers.

Original French cast iron beds look sensational when sand blasted or soda blasted and then professionally polished or powder coated. These are always a charming addition to any bedroom and look stunning when dressed in white fresh cotton bed sheets and an array of pretty pillows. These come as singles or doubles. The single beds are especially lovely in a child's bedroom where they hark back to an earlier era of childhood. Double French cast iron beds are also delightful in a double bedroom and add a real sense of of French charm.

Vertically Challenged: Reaching for the Skies!

posted on 9 May 2012 in Home and Garden

I'd only ever really used my garden for holding parties - or chilling out in. In the back of my mind though, I knew I could scratch that gardening itch that was growing ever more irritable! I'd cleared up my pest problem with some ultrasonic pest repellers, so felt my garden had the "all clear" for growing veggies. Ever since I was little and following my Grandad around as he tended his vegetables I have had an interest in gardening. From my first little patch at the corner of my mother's garden was filled with a wide variety of Primulas to my first actual garden filled with big structural plants such as Gunnera manicata, bamboo and Cordylines, my tastes have evolved. However, for the last three years they have had a different and very specific focus growing the tallest sunflower. It started as a competition with a single packet of seeds shared between my sister, mother and myself. The general spirit of competition has grown into a monster. This year I dug a trench across the middle lawn, filled it with compost and planted a variety of extremely tall sunflower strains obtained from several different suppliers (Sunzilla, Mongolian giant, Mammoth, Skyscraper, Kong for those who are interested). The competition has not yet taken over my life, but it has most definitely taken over my garden.

How to Survive an Office Job

posted on 9 May 2012 in Business and Finance

Working in an office can be a mixture of pleasant feelings, while also bringing about some negative ones. Trying to make the best of it will get you through the day, but if you find yourself constantly miserable day after day, it would be better to pursue a job that has more adventurous, possibly outdoor locales such as sky diving instructor, white water rafting guide, fire fighter or fishmonger. Having been on a prince 2 training course, I know the changes that can be made to systems that can really help people get more out of their work. One thing I do know - you have to at least somewhat enjoy your work to make it tolerable. If it is interesting, stimulating or varied, these traits can help pass an 8 hour workday. A job that is benefiting or helping people can aid in these feelings. Another thing that makes an office job more bearable would be to have people not yelling at you all the time, be it customers, clients, co-workers or bosses. Ways to avoid this would include but are not limited to- not working as a telemarketer, producing results, wearing deodorant and doing your job. You could also hang up inspirational quotes on the walls of your cubby if that is allowed.

Reduce the Pump Pains with a Few Tips

posted on 7 May 2012 in Cars and Transport

At our car dealership, it's the mini deals that are most popular at the moment because they're so fuel efficient, and it tells you how worried people are about fuel prices. Everywhere you look gas prices are increasing, but there are hundreds of tips on how to get more out of the money spent at the pump. Most often they are things like getting your gas early in the morning so you do not pay for fumes and other myths that leave us scratching our heads and highly doubting the sanity of the people who gave the tips. There are a few days to save money that are not hype. First if you are currently in the market for a new vehicle look at what you need the vehicle for and how many passengers will be in the vehicle on a regular bases. If you only drive to and from work and never have any passengers then a smaller more fuel efficient vehicle would be your best bet to save money. Only get an SUV or Truck if you absolutely will use it regularly as they often get 12mpg. Secondly if you are driving to and from work only buddy up with a co worker if possible. One important part of this process is to have a plan upfront so both parties are happy. Either switch days or weeks so that each person is driving equal distances on each car or if one person has a more fuel efficient car that the passenger is paying for at least half of the gas used to get to and from work if. If it is a long commute of an hour or more it would be best practice for the passenger to pay half of the gas and upkeep such as oil changes, tires, ect. The last tip is to think before you drive. Make sure that in one trip you accomplish as much as possible and take a route that is the smallest amount of miles. This will save you a lot of gas money over multiple trips to different places. As you can see there are many ways to save money at the pump.

Guess What: Buying Gifts Is About the Other, Not You!

posted on 7 May 2012 in Uncategorised

There are two important things when buying a gift for someone. The first thing is you are not buying it for yourself. It seems obvious but it happens all the time. Do not buy your girlfriend DIY stuff if you are the one spending all your weekends in the shed. Do not offer chick flick DVDs to your boyfriend if he is into action movies and Sci-Fi. It gets even more difficult when dealing with perfume: pay attention to the commercial and do not offer to you 25 year old girlfriend a perfume for women in their 50s.The second thing you should keep in mind is that when you offer a gift, you should spoil the other’s pleasure by bragging about how much money or effort you put into it. A really luxurious gift like a swarovski bracelet is a good example of such a gift. It can actually be harder to receive a gift than to give one, so do not put yourself forward too much. Everybody knows it, but everybody is oblivious to it to: offering a gift is all about the other person and the place this person occupies in your life!

Van Drivers: Your Best Friend to Your Location

posted on 5 May 2012 in Cars and Transport

Van drivers are your best friend to where ever you need to be. And in my opinion, the best van drivers are "van proud" - they look after their vans with snazzy van roof bars (like these) for extra luggage, and comfortable seating. Whether it's a taxi cab or van everyone that has ridden in a van knows what I am talking about. From the time you make an appointment over the phone to the time you get dropped off at your location, you put your complete trust in that driver. The driver has the responsibility of setting the appointment, finding the location of the pick up, helping out with any bag or luggage, making sure everyone is secure in the van safely, and driving to the correct location.

Once the van driver reaches the specified location, they are responsible for helping unload the van, schedule a pickup and making it on time to your next appointment. Van drivers also must be very skilled drivers to do their jobs. They must be able to drive in all weather conditions, road conditions, traffic conditions, and all other road hazards.

My Basic Guide to Hot Tub Settings

posted on 3 May 2012 in Home and Garden

For a large number of years, people today have known that soothing powers of a hot bath. The ancient Romans built a complete culture around any warm bath. Perhaps they knew that a soak in a new tub of warm water could brighten even the toughest day. Today the spa is a tiny version of the Roman bath - a great way to wash off the stress of the day. Hot tubs are available in many different forms and jet designs, as I can see browsing the various models of hot tubs sold in the UK. Quite a few tubs have special jets which might be dedicated to the actual neck, or perhaps the feet. A number of have adjustable jets. A good way to relax is to let the jets blow on especially tight muscles or knotty areas of the body. The warmth of the water is another important part of the hot spa experience. Even though individual preferences range, the ideal temperature for ultimate relaxation needs to be between 98 along with 102 degrees farenheit. This could vary depending upon the outside temperature.

Market A Business Locally By Developing Relationships

posted on 3 May 2012 in Business and Finance

When people want to run a successful business, they need to find a way to market it to their customers. There are many ways to market a business and a person should come up with a plan that includes several different methods - from roadside advertising to newspaper ads to radio ads. There are many techniques that businesses can use to market themselves locally that are very effective at promoting the business. A person can advertise in church bulletins to attract people from the community. They can offer a person a discount if they mention the ad in the bulletin. It is also a good idea to attract local customers with loyalty cards. These give a person who frequents the business regularly discount special offers and discounts that other customers do not get. Marketing locally is most effective when it is personal. The business owner should make the people in a community feel like they should want to shop at the business. They should think of the local business as a friend that they want to be a part of and that can help increase sales for a business.

Even So Called Veterans Don't Know a Thing About It

posted on 28 April 2012 in Uncategorised

Even though I have been blogging for quite a while now I am still a newbie at it and from time to time seek advice from people who have been it for a whole lot longer than I have. Last week I asked Mandy (one of the veteran bloggers I know) about digital copyright on images and the answer she gave me was far from what I expected and to say I was disappointed is downright an understatement. From the looks of it a lot of bloggers even those who are veterans do not clearly understand what's involved in copyrights. Like is it okay to use ebay photos when posting a blog entry? If it is how do you inform your readers about where you got the photos from? If not then where do you go for photos that are copyright free? As I asked these questions she gave me the ultimate downer when she said I should not really worry about copyrights as not a single blogger has been sued over copyright infringement. Well that really was not the issue now was it?

Side qualities that a caterer must have

posted on 26 April 2012 in Food and Drink

A caterer must have a sense of humour. Eating of food is not supposed to be done in a sad mood. A caterer should engage his clients as he is serving the food so that they can have the heart to eat it. If it is possible the caterer should leave the kitchen every once in a while to engage the customers in casual conversation. To some customers it matters who has prepared their food so they will want to meet in person with the culinary artist behind what is served. An outside catering uk expert should have the quality of honesty. This most relates to deadlines that must be met at all times. A caterer should be honest about the time that he will be finishing a project so that a customer can set hopes on something that will actually be delivered. Honesty in a caterer extends to fair prices which must be offered at all times. A caterer should not have different price listings for well-off clients and another listing for clients who are on a low budget. This is unethical and in the eyes of the law it is illegal.

On Lovely Toys And Games When I Was Small

posted on 24 April 2012 in Toys and Games

As we grow a lot of the childrens toys and games that were once a part of our daily lives change dramatically - from the simple toys we had when I was a boy, to the modern gadgets you see these days like remote control cars and computer games. As a child, I use to play with my family and friends and have so much fun just enjoying my childhood. I remember playing games such as Candy land, Connect Four, Uno, and so many other fun activities that children find entertaining. Whenever I was bored, my parents would always cheer me up with a game of Checkers or take me outside and play hide and seek. We often forget about the fun we had as a child because our days are more hectic as we grow, but we should always remember the good times then after all, it was a time when we really used our imagination and the feeling was that we could make fun with anything - even just a few stones or a piece of string.

The Poor Garden Does Not Grow Very Well in Colorado

posted on 20 April 2012 in Holiday and Travel

Twelve years of gardening and it should be down to a science by now, yet the garden is pitiful. For 4 weeks of the year, I rent a french farmhouse, and in my State-side home I try to recreate a bit of French magic there too. No matter what task is performed such as: loading the garden full of compost, fertilizer, or mulch, protecting my delicate growths with a heavy duty gazebo, it does not respond well. No amount of water makes anything grow well either. If a small amount of water is used, the plants seem to need more. To go the other way and use a lot of water, there is barely any change. The fruits of the plants do not grow as they are supposed to grow. Tiny tomatoes form when they are supposed to be bigger. The cantaloupe remains as baby cantaloupe, when they are supposed to be larger. The cucumbers turn out as hard as a rock. However, that has not deterred the gardening habit. The garden is replanted every year in hopes that it will be the best one yet. Possibly, someday, there will be the right formula for growing a relatively good garden.

One Mans Farm Is Another Mans Addiction

posted on 19 April 2012 in Arts and Entertainment

Cindy was not a big computer user. She rarely surfed the web. She knew that others found all sorts of interesting things online. She also knew that some of the things you could come across were not so great. Her friends tried to get her to be a bit braver and try new things. However, she was still reluctant. She did finally agree to set up a facebook account. Everyone said it was the thing to do. She was told she could have all sorts of fun chatting with her friends. She might even be able to find some of her old friends from high school. That did sound quite appealing to her. The one thing she heard the most about were the games she could play. One of these games was a farming game that sounded quite fun. Cindy liked the idea of planting and harvesting crops and caring for animals. She was not sure how to get started though. She found the facebook help link at the bottom of her home screen and clicked on it. Sure enough when she put the name of the game in the search box a list of questions and answers popped up. She found all that she needed to know about her farm and was ready to get started. Now, one month later, Cindy loves facebook. She loves her farm and has become quite the avid farmer. She has to check back every day to harvest crops and feed animals. She is so glad her friends convinced her to branch out online.

The Rude Awakening of My Alarm Clock on a French Trip

posted on 13 April 2012 in Home and Garden

It was a long haul from the UK (Northampton) to the south of France - by car! It was scheduled to take 24 hours. However, it took us 2 days. We made it to Lyon before stopping at a friend's house. We got just an hour's sleep there before the rude awakening of my alarm clock waking us up. We blearily-eyed made our way to the car for the last leg of the journey. However, just 5 minutes into driving, we damaged the oil sump as we mounted a curb through sheer tiredness. That mean we had to wait for sunrise and get a mechanic in Lyon to fix our car. That took a whole day - meanwhile we had nowhere to stay (we were too embarrassed to back to our friend's house) so we literally just waited in a lovely coffee shop - with lovely rattan garden chairs I might add - for the car to be repaired. When it was we waved the white flag and stayed in a hotel in Lyon for a blissful night's sleep before making our way to the south of France.
